"Charitable Tet" program in Hai Duong gives 1,200 gifts to the poor

Speaking at the program, the Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee emphasized that 2023 has passed with many important achievements and marks. Although the situation in the country and the province still faces many difficulties due to the impact of the global economic recession and political instability taking place globally, with the spirit of solidarity, the Party Committee, government and people of Hai Duong province have focused on removing difficulties and obstacles, resolutely implementing the set goals. The province's economy has achieved many outstanding achievements. The cultural and social fields have achieved many positive results. People's lives have improved. Policies to ensure social security, policies for people with meritorious services, and support for sustainable poverty reduction have been focused on and achieved many results. During the year, the Provincial People's Council issued 15 policies on social security. The provincial budget has spent over billions of VND on social work and social security.

Despite many efforts, Hai Duong still has a part of the population affected by natural disasters, epidemics, suffering from serious diseases, being disadvantaged, and having many difficulties in life. The whole province currently has over 8,000 poor households (accounting for 1.34% of the population) and nearly 11,000 near-poor households (accounting for nearly 1.7%) and thousands of orphans, lonely elderly people with no place to rely on who are in dire need of the community's help.

Through the "Compassionate Tet" Program of the Year of the Dragon 2024, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee called on all levels, sectors, agencies, units and enterprises to continue to accompany Hai Duong province and the Red Cross Society in helping the poor and disadvantaged. Each cadre, member, volunteer, Red Cross youth and humanitarian workers in the province are always the core force and bridge in humanitarian activities, remembering and implementing well the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh - the first Honorary President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society: "We must start from a deep love for the people to contribute to protecting people's health and do everything possible to reduce their suffering".

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trieu The Hung emphasized that Tet is coming, spring is coming, the movement of "mutual love", "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves" is multiplied many times to care for and help those in difficult circumstances to have a more warm and happy Tet. The program "Tet Charitable" jointly organized by the Provincial People's Committee and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society has many rich, practical and close activities to promptly provide material and spiritual support to poor and near-poor households, workers and laborers in difficult circumstances to enjoy spring and celebrate Tet, contributing to building a united and compassionate community.

With the motto "no poor person does not have Tet, no one is left behind", Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trieu The Hung hopes that each person will unite with love and compassion, together building a united community, a civilized society. He requested that Party committees at all levels, authorities, sectors and enterprises always accompany, care for and look after the disadvantaged, contributing to better implementing local social security work. He believes that the "Compassionate Tet" movement in the Spring of Giap Thin 2024 will have a far-reaching influence.

Speaking at the program, Comrade Bui Thi Hoa, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, said that Hai Duong is one of 19 provinces and cities chosen to host the "Charitable Tet" Program for the Spring of Giap Thin 2024. She was impressed by the joyful, warm atmosphere filled with love that the "Charitable Tet" Program in Hai Duong brought to poor and near-poor households, workers and laborers in difficult circumstances. This program has a comprehensive coverage, creates conditions and better meets the aspirations of many disadvantaged groups in society. She hopes that people of all walks of life across the country in general and Hai Duong in particular will continue to join hands to build a society rich in love so that people in difficult circumstances can rise up and stabilize their lives...

The "Charitable Tet" program of the Year of the Dragon 2024 mobilized resources to donate 1,200 gifts (each worth 1.5 - 1.8 million VND) to poor and near-poor households and workers in difficult circumstances. Of which, Thanh Dong Real Estate Investment Joint Stock Company donated 1 billion VND to sponsor the program. Phuc Son Group Joint Stock Company, Gia Loc Production and Trading Company Limited, TH Group, and the "For Vietnamese Stature" Fund also donated resources to support.

Representatives of poor and near-poor households and workers in difficult circumstances attending the program were directly presented with gifts by leaders of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and Hai Duong province.

At the program, the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs presented 15 gifts (each worth 1.2 million VND) to 15 families of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and Martyrs.

Along with receiving gifts from the Organizing Committee, each poor, near-poor household, and disadvantaged worker directly participating in the program can also participate in the "0 VND" Tet market with many essential items for Tet and spring celebrations; receive free calligraphy, haircuts...
