The Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhon Trach District (Dong Nai) had his bank account stolen by a group of online scammers who logged into his account and withdrew about 170 billion VND.
On March 22, Dong Nai Provincial Police are coordinating with professional units to investigate the case of Ms. Nguyen Thi Giang Huong, Chairwoman of Nhon Trach District People's Committee (Dong Nai), who was scammed by a high-tech fraud group, logging into her bank account and taking a large amount of money.
A source confirmed that the amount of money the high-tech fraud group withdrew from Ms. Nguyen Thi Giang Huong's account was about 170 billion VND.
Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Acting Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, said that the Provincial People's Committee has not yet received the initial report on the case of Ms. Nguyen Thi Giang Huong, Chairman of Nhon Trach District People's Committee, losing a large amount of money in her account.
"Currently, the case of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhon Trach district is being investigated and clarified by Dong Nai provincial police. Regarding the exact amount of money lost, the provincial police have not yet announced it," Mr. Duc informed.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Giang Huong (born in 1973) currently holds the position of Deputy Secretary of Nhon Trach District Party Committee, Chairman of Nhon Trach District People's Committee (Dong Nai) for the 2021-2025 term.
