Many people are willing to pay to have a beautiful view to watch fireworks on New Year's Eve 2024.
On the eve of the new year 2024, many people in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are still looking for ideal places to watch fireworks or count down to New Year's Eve.
Watching fireworks at a cafe is an option chosen by many young people in Ho Chi Minh City. Ngoc Linh (24 years old, District 3) booked a seat at Thoang - a rooftop cafe with a view of fireworks being launched from the Saigon River tunnel. The ticket price for one person is 990,000 VND, including drinks and food.
Staff at this cafe said that many groups of 20 people or more had booked tables before December 25 to receive the discount of 699,000 VND/person. Currently, the cafe has very few seats left.
Meanwhile, Waterbiz Coffee (Ben Bach Dang, District 1) is another option to watch fireworks with an average price of 40,000-70,000 VND. The shop representative said they do not charge extra fees and do not accept reservations during the holiday.
Not only choosing cafes around the fireworks display site, many people also consider renting a hotel room or booking a cruise to watch the fireworks.

According to data from the booking platform Mustgo, hotels in the center of Ho Chi Minh City with beautiful views of fireworks such as Saigon Prince, Lotte Hotel Saigon, and The Reverie all reached over 80% occupancy on December 31. Notably, Vinpearl Landmark 81 Hotel was "sold out" many days ago.
Currently on Agoda, hotels with rooms available on December 31st for viewing fireworks such as Majetic and Lotte Hotel Saigon have very few rooms left with prices ranging from 6-12 million VND/night.
Meanwhile, cruises with food and fireworks viewing services on the Saigon River have quickly sold out.
With a price of 1.7 million VND/person for adults and 1.2 million VND/person for children, King Yacht has been fully booked for December 31 for many days. Similarly, Saigon Princess Cruise with its New Year's Eve program also has no vacancies.
Ms. Xuan Hai (34 years old, District 7) said she booked a place for her whole family at a cost of nearly 10 million VND to have a unique New Year's party, different from every year.
"I find watching fireworks on a cruise has a clear view and is not crowded. The ticket price includes food and drinks so it's quite reasonable."
In Hanoi, although there are no fireworks, Hoan Kiem Lake is still the most popular place to welcome the New Year.
To date, most restaurants and cafes with rooftops and balconies with beautiful views have opened countdown reservations for the night of December 31. According to a survey, depending on the seating position, the ticket price for an adult ranges from 399,000 VND to more than 2 million VND, excluding VAT.
Compared to last year, this price has not fluctuated much, even decreased. Each ticket usually includes a snack and 1-2 drinks for guests. Currently, some establishments are almost full.
Cau Go Hotpot Restaurant is located in the Ham Ca Map building, which has a direct view of Hoan Kiem Lake, Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square fountain... as of December 28, the seats were almost fully booked. "The highest price for the outdoor and rooftop seats on the 7th floor, next to the glass doors on the 5th and 6th floors is 1.5 million VND/person. Currently, this area is almost fully booked, with at most 6 seats left," said the restaurant manager.

In addition, this restaurant also has an indoor area on the 7th and 5th floors with a cheaper price of 1.2 million VND/person, this price includes the dinner menu. Currently, many restaurants, bars, and cafes on the upper floors around Hoan Kiem Lake also have similar prices, ranging from 399,000 VND to more than 1 million VND. Many places even organize live music, cocktail parties, beer or wine buffets to attract customers.
At Laika cafe located in the Shark's Jaw building, the staff said that on the night of December 31, the shop sold separate seating combos. The highest combo has a seat with a direct view of Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, priced at 1 million VND/seat, including 1 drink on the menu and 1 Lavie mineral water. The second combo with seats inside costs 500,000 VND, including 1 drink on the menu and 1 Lavie.
Not only the Hoan Kiem Lake area, bars and restaurants on high floors in the West Lake and Truc Bach Lake areas also sell tickets for this service. At a bar on the 20th floor, to have a seat on New Year's Eve with 3 optional drinks and snacks, customers have to pay at least 1.4 million VND/person. The highest ticket price is 2.09 million VND/person, in addition to the drinks, buyers of this ticket will enjoy premium champagne.
"The number of customers booking tables so far accounts for about 30% of the total number compared to last year. Normally, customers will wait until the day before to book to observe the weather," said a restaurant representative.
