Hoi An is the most popular destination for Vietnamese tourists in the new year 2024, Da Nang is the city that has dropped the most in the top favorite destinations.
Booking.com, a booking application with partners in more than 220 countries and territories, announced on the morning of December 8 a list of the 10 domestic destinations most visited by Vietnamese tourists during the 2024 New Year holiday.
Topping the list is Hoi An with its famous Old Quarter in Quang Nam province. This city is also the destination that has increased the most (6 places) in the top 10 compared to the same period last year. Da Nang is the city that has dropped the most, ranking 5th. In 2022, Da Nang was chosen by Vietnamese tourists as the most visited destination during the New Year 2023. The capital Hanoi dropped two places from 2nd place last year to 4th place this year.

The remaining destinations in the top 10 are Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Vung Tau, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Sa Pa, Mui Ne.
Five out of the 10 most searched destinations are coastal cities, showing that Vietnamese tourists still especially love beach vacations in winter. In addition to the factor of looking for a warm destination, Vietnamese tourists' preference for vacations near the beach is also in line with Booking's 2024 Travel Trend Prediction. 82% of Vietnamese tourists surveyed said that the feeling of relaxation when being near water (sea, river, lake) determines their travel destination.
Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are in the top 3 and 4 most searched destinations by tourists, showing a certain level of interest among Vietnamese people in city breaks.
Booking's survey is based on data from Vietnamese guests searching the most in November with check-in dates from December 1 to early 2024.

Hotels are still the most popular type of accommodation for Vietnamese people, however, based on booking trends, Booking found that tourists are also looking for and exploring other types of accommodation instead. Resorts, apartments, motels and villas are the four most searched types of accommodation after hotels.
Responding to reporters, Varun Grover, Country Director of Booking Vietnam, said he was "very happy to see that the demand for domestic travel among Vietnamese people is at a high level". Beach tourism and urban tourism are the most popular vacation trends of Vietnamese people at the end of the year and New Year.
