Having participated in Women's Union activities for nearly 20 years, from Branch President to President of Tan Dan Ward Women's Union (Chi Linh, Hai Duong), Ms. Nguyen Thi Diep (born in 1974) has always been enthusiastic and dedicated to the union's work.
Thanks to that, for many years, Tan Dan Ward Women's Union has always been a bright spot in implementing emulation movements of Chi Linh women.
One of the positive highlights of the Tan Dan Ward Women's Union in recent times is the waste classification and organic waste treatment using IMO microorganisms. This is a model of Chi Linh City. "In my locality, household waste is increasing but is mainly buried or burned. Through the activities of the Provincial Women's Union, I learned about the very effective models of waste classification and use of IMO microorganisms. Therefore, I and the Executive Committee of the Ward Women's Union asked for the Party Committee's opinion to implement a pilot project, then expand it," Ms. Diep shared.
In April 2022, the Ward Women's Union built a pilot model of "Classification and treatment of organic waste at households" using IMO probiotics at Giang Ha Residential Area Association. However, after 8 months of implementation, it has not been effective due to lack of knowledge about the model, households do not have compost tanks and do not have treatment enzymes, so only 20 households participated.
To make the model more effective, Ms. Diep and the Standing Committee of the Association mobilized benefactors to support 3.5 tons of cement and 13,000 bricks to support households participating in building compost tanks; mobilized 30 million VND to buy 100 small plastic barrels to distribute to households and 10 200-liter barrels to compost waste at the market. The Executive Committee of the Ward Women's Association made 200 kg of IMO probiotics to distribute to 50 member households who registered to participate in the program.
In addition, Ms. Diep learned how to make IMO probiotics with easy-to-find ingredients, then instructed the members to do it together to help reduce the cost of buying yeast for households... To overcome the difficulty of composting, depending on the conditions of each member, Ms. Diep encouraged households to choose the appropriate type of compost tank. Houses with large gardens built 2-compartment compost tanks, while households in the neighborhood with small gardens used 60-liter or 30-liter plastic barrels to compost waste. Each time the households participated, Ms. Diep and the Executive Committee went to each household to inspect and provide technical support...
Thanks to that, up to now, more than 500 households have participated in the model. For recyclable waste, the association launched the construction of "Green Houses" located at cultural houses of residential areas and public places. All recyclable waste after collection is sold to raise funds to give gifts to poor women, children, and orphans. Up to now, the Women's Union of Tan Dan Ward has advised the Party Committee of the ward to lead and direct the construction of 14 "Green Houses", earning nearly 10 million VND each year. Ms. Diep also launched a monthly exchange of recyclable waste for IMO probiotics and biodegradable plastic bags to distribute to members. In the first month of implementation, the branches collected 560 kg of recyclable waste to exchange for 80 kg of probiotics and 15 kg of biodegradable bags. This movement has contributed to raising awareness of waste classification and environmental protection among local people.
According to Ms. Diep, in order for the association to develop, its activities must be vibrant and closely connected with its members. Therefore, Ms. Diep and the Executive Board always care about its members, especially those who are disadvantaged, have difficult circumstances, and are orphans through the programs “Godmother”, “Bowl of Love Rice”, etc. In addition, she advised the Executive Board to establish special women’s clubs to attract a large number of members to participate, such as “Elderly Women’s Club”, “Women’s Club for Safety in Cyberspace”.
In order to create conditions for members who need to borrow capital to develop the economy, Ms. Diep and the Credit Executive Board with the Social Policy Bank and Dong A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank) lent 55 members a total of 3.7 billion VND. From here, many women have invested in economic development, improving their lives...
According to the assessment of comrade Nguyen Van Chuyen, Secretary of the Tan Dan Ward Party Committee, Ms. Diep is a very enthusiastic, responsible, and passionate cadre, a shining example in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style...
With the results achieved, Ms. Diep was awarded many certificates of merit.
