House fire in Ho Chi Minh City, 3 mother and children died

At around midnight on July 14, a fire broke out in a one-story house of about 20 square meters located in an alley on Thong Nhat Street, Ward 16. At this time, many people around shouted and used mini fire extinguishers to put out the fire but were unsuccessful.

The house is located nearly 400 meters from the main road, more than a meter wide, with only one entrance and an iron door. On the ground floor, there were two motorbikes and many belongings. A few minutes later, the fire broke out fiercely, and the victims trapped inside cried for help.

Several fire trucks and more than 20 firefighters arrived at the scene. Firefighters pulled hoses from the main road to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading. A group tried to break down the main door. Rescuers controlled the fire within 10 minutes.

When the fire was extinguished, the police entered and discovered an elderly woman over 90 years old (the head of the household), along with her two sons and daughter (52-58 years old) dead. Two motorbikes were burned to the frame, the iron doors and brick walls outside collapsed, the walls were blackened by smoke.

Ms. Thanh Huong, 40 years old, living next to the burned house, said that the old woman had a stroke and was confined to a wheelchair, and her daughter was there to take care of her. Yesterday afternoon, the son came to visit his mother.

According to the initial investigation by the police, the fire started on the ground floor and then spread to the first floor. The house was small and had a lot of furniture, so the fire spread quickly. The three elderly victims were slow to move and could not escape.
