In the program Mother-in-law and Daughter-in-law, son-in-law Mac Van Khoa and mother-in-law Nguyen Thi Hanh Trang (52 years old, Ho Chi Minh City) had moments of sharing their feelings about the relationship between mother-in-law and son-in-law.
Before taking over her son-in-law’s chain of stores, Ms. Hanh Trang used to run restaurants in Dong Nai and Binh Duong. With her support, Mac Van Khoa opened his 12th bun dau mam tom store.
Mac Van Khoa and his wife Thao Vy officially held their wedding ceremony in May 2022. However, the two have been together for more than 7 years. During this time, the actor was considered a family member by the girl's family.
After getting married, Mac Van Khoa's small family had his mother-in-law living with them. The relationship between the mother-in-law and son-in-law also began to become closer.
However, when recalling the first time she met her son-in-law, Mrs. Hanh Trang could not hide her panic. She quickly turned to apologize to her son-in-law before recounting the things that had been kept secret.
Ms. Hanh Trang revealed: “At that time, Khoa was competing in the show Laughter Across Vietnam, and was not yet famous. The day my daughter brought Khoa home to introduce him to the family, I felt sorry for Khoa, he was thin and dark, and he kept shyly greeting me.
I quickly grabbed my daughter's hand and pulled her behind me, asking, "Why do you date someone so dark and skinny?" My daughter just smiled and confirmed that her boyfriend was very gentle.
Many of Thao Vy's relatives even suspected that Mac Van Khoa was a debauched playboy and drug addict, which is why he was sick and had dark eyes.
After the initial awkwardness, Ms. Hanh Trang quickly created a comfortable, open atmosphere, helping Khoa feel closer. Through contact, the bride's family gradually understood Khoa's personality and work.
Mother-in-law and son-in-law are as close as friends.
Unlike his lively personality on stage and on the small screen, Mac Van Khoa is quite quiet in real life. However, Khoa is very open-minded whenever he has the chance to talk to his mother-in-law.

“Whenever he was sad or had difficulties at work, Khoa often asked to talk to me, even cry together. Many times Khoa and I sat and talked until 2-3am,” Mac Van Khoa’s mother-in-law shared.
In married life, quarrels and conflicts are inevitable. However, Khoa's mother-in-law always stood up for her son-in-law. This made her daughter angry, wondering who was her real daughter.
Mrs. Hanh Trang explained: “I don’t spoil my son-in-law, but because he’s right, I agree. Mother-in-law and son-in-law are closer than biological daughters. My son-in-law is polite and gentle, so I can’t think of anything to make Khoa sad.”
Even when witnessing her daughter and son-in-law quarreling, Mrs. Trang got angry and wanted to move out to live alone. However, her filial son-in-law stopped her, sincerely wanting her mother-in-law to live with her children and grandchildren.
In his spare time, the actor often cooks for his family.
The actor also shared: “There is no greater happiness than living with my mother-in-law. I have been away from my parents for more than 10 years, and seeing them once or twice a year feels very happy. Therefore, we cherish every second and minute we get to live close to my mother-in-law.”
Currently, Mrs. Trang no longer lives with her husband. She spends most of her time on her business. Seeing her mother-in-law alone, Mac Van Khoa and his wife hope that she will soon find a suitable companion.
