Block the pain from fireworks

Every year, when the Lunar New Year comes, the situation of crimes and violations of the law on fireworks becomes more complicated. Many cases of production, storage and use of fireworks have caused serious accidents, leaving behind serious consequences.

On December 23, in Thanh Tay commune, Tan Bien district (Tay Ninh), an explosion occurred, causing burns and multiple injuries to a group of teenagers aged 14-17. The cause was that the children ordered fireworks on the internet to make their own fireworks, and carelessly caused the explosion, causing casualties. The patients in the explosion all suffered severe burns (from 40% - 60%) and multiple injuries.

In early December, in Quang Ninh district (Quang Binh), an explosion occurred when 4 students researched and made fireworks following instructions on YouTube. During the process, the fireworks exploded, causing all 4 students to be hospitalized with severe burns and swelling of the entire face, forearms, hands, and legs...

Danger is always lurking in Hai Duong. In the first 10 days of the campaign to crack down on crimes during the Lunar New Year 2025, a series of subjects related to firecracker violations were handled by local police. The situation of trading, transporting, and especially the illegal manufacturing of firecrackers tends to become more complicated. In previous years, there have been injuries caused by firecrackers.

Chemical burns from homemade fireworks are even more dangerous, as they can cause serious damage to internal organs, requiring long-term surgery to treat. A heartbreaking incident occurred at the end of January 2024. Patient TVV, 11 years old, in Chi Linh City, had his right hand crushed by burning homemade fireworks.

The consequences of accidents caused by firecrackers not only damage the property, health and lives of the victims but also leave long-term mental consequences for the families.

The law clearly stipulates prohibited acts in the management and use of fireworks. Any act of illegal purchase, storage, transportation, use, or manufacture of fireworks will be subject to administrative penalties or criminal prosecution depending on the nature and severity of the act.

Decree No. 144/2021/ND-CP dated December 31, 2021 of the Government stipulates a fine of VND 10 - 20 million for acts of illegally transporting or storing fireworks, fireworks powder or raw materials and accessories for producing fireworks; illegally instructing, training, or organizing training on how to manufacture, produce, repair, or use weapons, support tools, and fireworks in any form.

According to the 2015 Penal Code, amended in 2017, acts of illegally manufacturing, trading, transporting, storing, and using firecrackers and fireworks can be prosecuted. Violators related to firecrackers can also be prosecuted for producing and trading prohibited goods with a prison term of 1-5 years, the highest from 8-15 years. The crime of storing and transporting prohibited goods under the Penal Code has a minimum prison term of 6 months - 3 years and the highest from 5-10 years...

The law clearly stipulates that the penalties are severe, many cases are criminally prosecuted, losing their future and youth; many accidents caused by homemade fireworks have left very serious consequences, not only for the victims but also making them a burden for their families and society. This is also a strong warning for everyone, especially young people, about the need to be clearly aware and have preventive measures.

The Lunar New Year 2025 is approaching. To prevent the dangers caused by firecrackers and homemade fireworks, everyone needs to uphold their sense of responsibility, comply with the provisions of the law, and not participate in the production, sale or use of firecrackers in any form.
