Every Friday morning, members of the Chi Linh City Volunteer Club wake up very early to cook porridge, vermicelli, and pho, and distribute them for free to patients being treated at a number of medical facilities.

At Leprosy Village in Trai Trong Residential Area, Hoang Tien Ward (Chi Linh City), at exactly 6:30, porridge, vermicelli, and pho were transported and displayed in front of the village's lobby. Witnessing the waiting mood of patients when they came to receive food, we fully understood the meaning of the program. Although the material value is not large, it is the "mutual love" and "helping each other" of the members of the Chi Linh City Charity Club for leprosy patients.

After more than an hour, nearly 100 meals were delivered to the patients here. Along with giving porridge, noodles, and pho, the club members also gave milk, diapers, and kindly encouraged and asked about the patients' health and daily life.

Ms. Tran Thi Thuy in Sao Do Ward (Chi Linh), a member of the Chi Linh City Charity Club, shared: “I am very happy to participate in this program, all my fatigue has disappeared. I think this work, although small, helps patients gain more strength and confidence to overcome their illness.”

Recently, once a week, the Chi Linh City Charity Club has organized to cook free porridge, vermicelli, and pho to help poor patients and people in difficult circumstances at the Medical Centers of Nam Sach District, Chi Linh City, and Dong Trieu Town (Quang Ninh). Each charity event costs 2 - 3 million VND for the above dishes.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Nga, Head of the Chi Linh City Charity Club, said that in order to maintain and regularly carry out this activity, in the coming time, the club will continue to mobilize members to actively participate in supporting funds; at the same time, mobilizing philanthropists and businesses to join hands to help. In addition, the club also coordinates with the Hai Duong Provincial Red Cross Society and local Party committees and authorities to support patients in especially difficult circumstances, with cancer... to build charity houses, "great solidarity" houses. From 2021-2023, the club has mobilized and supported 3 houses (each house received support of 70 million VND).

"Every time we do volunteer work, seeing the smiles and happy eyes of the patients motivates us to try harder to spread kindness, love, and sharing to the less fortunate," Ms. Phuong Nga added.
