This agency said that the above impersonation is an illegal act, taking advantage of the names of tax officials, civil servants, and tax agencies at all levels for personal gain, defrauding businesses... has been and is hindering the production and business activities of enterprises, damaging the reputation and image of leaders and civil servants of tax agencies at all levels.

The Hanoi Tax Department affirms that the tax agency has no policy nor does it send officials to make phone calls, fax or bring books to sell to taxpayers. All documents and materials are provided free of charge by the tax agency and are fully posted on the tax agency's website at: http://hanoi.gdt.gov.vn. All training programs organized by the tax agency are free of charge and invitations will be sent to taxpayers.
