Recently, on forums, many vehicle owners have reported receiving calls requesting them to update their vehicle registration certificates on the electronic identification application (VNeID) to change their vehicle registration.

Mr. HN said that a week ago he received a call informing him that his car had not yet been registered and inspected on the VNeID application.

“The caller read my license plate number correctly and asked me to follow the instructions to integrate and avoid being fined. I suspected it was a scam so I didn’t follow it,” said Mr. HN.

Similarly, a woman also said that although her car's registration had not expired, she received a call informing her that she needed to update the registration on the VNeID application to change the registration.

“The caller instructed me to add Zalo as a friend to update my information on VNeID. I quickly hung up, because I was afraid that following the instructions might lead me to dangerous links, have my personal information and bank account information hacked, and lose money. I wonder if my worries are correct?”, the woman wondered.

Sharing about this issue, the leader of the Vietnam Register recommends that vehicle owners need to be vigilant with calls notifying, requesting to update, change vehicle registration certificates as well as vehicle registration information to avoid being scammed.

Currently, the inspection agency is researching and developing software to prepare for the implementation of issuing electronic inspection certificates.

“When this application is deployed, the Vietnam Register will officially notify people and businesses. People (vehicle owners) will not have to issue or change certificates in any form,” the leader of the Vietnam Register affirmed.

Previously, there were cases of people impersonating officers of the Vietnam Register calling people and businesses to ask them to "change inspection stamps according to the regulations of the new circular".

The subjects instructed people to change their registration stamps online. They asked people to fill in their personal information and transfer the "stamp change fee". After people did as requested, the subjects took measures such as blocking communication and erasing all traces.

The Vietnam Register has had to issue an urgent notice confirming that there is no state management agency asking people and businesses to change inspection stamps as reported. All those who texted and called with the above content are impersonators and scammers.
