On May 24, Ms. Pham Kim Dung, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Miss World Vietnam, Miss Grand Vietnam, and Miss National Vietnam contests, said that she has been receiving reports from contestants about being contacted by people impersonating the organizing committee and making offers to buy and sell prizes, attend shows, and interfere with results... along with some text messages that these impersonators sent to contestants.
There are even social media accounts posing as acquaintances of high-ranking leaders or famous people, claiming to be able to influence the results of the competition.
“All the information from those subjects is fraudulent, taking advantage of the stress of candidates and their families when taking the exam to make profit. These scams are very old, but they still take advantage of technology and social networks to repeat every year. We affirm that there is no intervention that can affect the judges' score sheet or the final result,” Ms. Dung affirmed.
Ms. Dung also said that she will provide all this information to the authorities to get help and support in handling subjects who commit fraud and take advantage of candidates' trust for personal gain. The organizing committee will also take legal action if these subjects continue to affect candidates as well as the contest and the contest organizers.
The organizers also emphasized that if contestants do not report the above issues and continue to communicate with the subjects in a negative way, they will be handled according to the contest regulations. Contestants and their families who are preparing to come to the contest, if they receive any suspicious offers, should immediately contact the organizers to help bring the scammers to light.
