Close-up of the last 19 km of Dien Chau - Bai Vot highway opened to traffic on the morning of June 30

After the 19 km section from the National Highway 46B intersection to Duc Tho district was put into operation, the entire Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway, nearly 50 km long, connecting Nghe An - Ha Tinh, was opened.
On the morning of June 30, the Dien Chau - Bai Vot section investment project under the Project to build a number of expressway sections on the North - South East route in the 2017 - 2020 period put into operation the last 19 km of the route (from the intersection of National Highway 46B to the intersection of National Highway 8A).
Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway is 49.3 km long, passing through two provinces of Nghe An (44.4 km) and Ha Tinh (4.9 km), and started construction in May 2021.
The starting point of the expressway is in Dien Cat commune, Dien Chau district (Nghe An), connecting Nghi Son - Dien Chau expressway. In the photo is the intersection in Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district (Nghe An)
According to Phuc Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company (project enterprise), the remaining 19 km of the expressway has been delayed due to the process of treating weak soil.
Hung Duc Bridge crosses the Lam River, connecting Nghe An and Ha Tinh. With a length of nearly 4.1 km, this is the longest bridge on the North-South Expressway.
The highway has 4 lanes, 2 lanes on each side, 17 m wide roadbed, allowing cars to run at a maximum speed of 90 km/h, minimum speed of 60 km/h.
The end point of the expressway is at Thanh Binh Thinh commune, Duc Tho district (Ha Tinh), at the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi expressway intersection.
More than 2.2 km of highway in Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh is designed as a viaduct.
From Ha Tinh, vehicles can get on the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway from National Highway 8A (section through Thanh Binh Thinh commune).
Vehicles not allowed to participate in traffic on the highway include: trucks over 10 tons, motorbikes, scooters, tractors, specialized motorbikes with a speed of less than or equal to 70 km/h, rudimentary vehicles, pedestrians.
A group of workers completed the final stages on the afternoon of June 29.
The first visitors experience the highway through Ha Tinh
The operation of the entire Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway aims to shorten the distance from Hanoi to Ha Tinh, promote economic, social and tourism development in the Central region, and at the same time overcome traffic congestion and reduce traffic accidents on National Highway 1A.
Following the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway is the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi expressway with a total length of 35.28 km. The project has a total investment of 7,643 billion VND, and is expected to complete the entire route by the end of June 2025.
