How to clean down jacket without washing

Down jackets are prone to stains and odors when worn, especially in the cold winter when these problems are more obvious. Many people wash them in water or spend money on dry cleaning. However, dry cleaning or frequent washing can affect the warmth and appearance of the jacket.

So what should we do when our coats get dirty? There is a very simple trick you should apply.

First, prepare a basin and pour some white vinegar into it, then add fabric softener. Fabric softener not only protects the down jacket, but also eliminates static electricity and prevents dirt from sticking to the washed jacket, while the acetic acid in white vinegar can kill bacteria and soften stubborn stains on the jacket.

Finally, add cold water to the above solution. Note, do not use hot water, otherwise the jacket may be damaged. Then we prepare a spray bottle to help spray the solution evenly on the jacket. Spray more on areas with serious stains.

Then use an old toothbrush to brush the stained area several times, scrubbing and wiping until the stain fades. Next, use a towel to gently wipe the entire surface of the shirt. This dry brushing method can effectively remove surface stains without damaging the fabric.

After brushing the down jacket, do not rush to dry it because there may be some detergent left on the surface of the jacket, causing white residue after drying. Therefore, we use a wet towel to wipe the surface of the jacket a few more times.

Finally, hang the cleaned shirt to dry, remember to hang it in a cool place, away from direct sunlight. This cleaning method saves time, effort and ensures the shirt remains beautiful and durable.
