The organizational structure of the Ministry of Education and Training has been streamlined to 18 units, 6 departments have been reduced, and a General Department has been converted into a Department compared to before.
On March 5, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the organizational structure according to the new Government decree. The 18 units are as follows:

Of these, three are public service units including Education and Times Newspaper; Education Magazine; Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences. The rest are affiliated units assisting the Minister in state management.
Thus, the ministry reduced one General Department to a Department and six divisions compared to before.
As a Government agency, the Ministry of Education and Training is responsible for comprehensive management of the national education system, from preschool to university and continuing education, including vocational education, vocational skills development, Vietnamese and ethnic languages.
The Ministry issues educational programs at all levels, regulates standards, processes for compiling and editing programs, and sets maximum prices for textbooks.
The Ministry also regulates the teaching of high school cultural knowledge in vocational education institutions and submits to the Government policies on developing and preserving Vietnamese and ethnic languages, and guiding the learning of Vietnamese for foreigners and overseas Vietnamese.
In addition, the ministry prescribes standards and procedures for compiling documents and learning materials for preschools, general education textbooks, university curricula and vocational education.
The current Minister of Education and Training is Mr. Nguyen Kim Son, assisted by 4 Deputy Ministers: Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi and Messrs. Nguyen Van Phuc, Pham Ngoc Thuong, Hoang Minh Son and Le Tan Dung.
