The Paris 2024 flame has been extinguished, bringing to a successful end the Olympics with a festive closing ceremony at the Stade de France.
After more than two weeks of dramatic and exciting competition, the 2024 Paris Olympics officially ended with the closing ceremony taking place in the early morning of August 12 (Vietnam time).
While the opening ceremony was held along the Seine River - marking the first Olympics to open outside a stadium - the closing ceremony was held in traditional form - at the Stade de France, one of France's most iconic venues.
As expected of a "capital of art and light", Paris' farewell to the 2024 Olympics took place in a shimmering, magical color transformation thanks to modern technology and unique artistic style, performed on a 2,800m2 stage at the Stade de France stadium.
French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, along with many leaders of countries and sports organizations, attended the closing ceremony.
For more than 2 hours and 30 minutes, French art director Thomas Jolly and 270 artists transformed France's largest stadium, Stade de France, into a Hollywood-style show, because the 2028 Olympics will take place in Los Angeles, USA.
With the theme "Records", the Organizing Committee wants to reflect the Olympic spirit and express the idea that "each of us lives in our own world, sharing that to reconnect, overcoming difficulties together, looking back to the past and looking forward to the future".
The French art director tells the story of an interstellar traveler, played by dancer Arthur Cadre, who comes to the stadium to explore the ruins of the Olympics and revive it, just as International Olympic Committee (IOC) founder Pierre de Coubertin revived the ancient Olympics in the late 19th century.
Song"Under the Paris Sky"The ceremony was opened by the song praising the beauty of Paris sung by singer Zaho de Sagazan.
As in previous editions, the ceremony included traditional rituals such as extinguishing the Olympic flame, handing over the Olympic flag to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Organizing Committee and a parade of athletes to close out a vibrant summer of sports.
The mark of the "movie capital" Hollywood was also clearly shown through the appearance of actor Tom Cruise, who swung from the top of the Stade de France stadium at a height of 42m and landed on the ground, holding the Olympic flag and riding a motorbike on the streets of Paris, then boarding a plane to bring the Olympic flag back to the US city of Los Angeles.
