226 people died, 77 others are missing due to floods and heavy rains after storm No. 3 (storm Yagi) in Myanmar.
The Information Department of the State Administrative Council of Myanmar on September 16 recorded that the number of victims killed by floods in the country has increased to 226, in addition, 77 others are still missing.
Floods have severely affected dozens of towns across Myanmar, the agency said.
Affected areas and states include Kayah, Kayin, Bago, Magway, Mandalay, Mon, Shan, Ayeyarwady and Naypyidaw. A total of 438 shelters have been set up for flood victims.
As of September 16, floods had also damaged 2,116 houses, 117 buildings, 1,040 schools, 386 religious facilities and submerged about 260.2 hectares of crops.
