Arsenal make history in the Netherlands

Traveling to the Netherlands to face PSV, Arsenal continued to play with a patchwork attack. The trio of Merino, Trossard and Nwaneri were used by coach Mikel Arteta in this match.

Meanwhile, PSV took to the field with their best squad available. Despite missing many key players due to injury, Arsenal took the initiative to attack and quickly put pressure on their opponents.

In the 18th minute, Declan Rice crossed the ball accurately for versatile defender Timber to head in from close range, opening the score for Arsenal. With the goal to break the deadlock, Arsenal played much more freely.

Just 3 minutes later, the gap was 2-0 for Arsenal and the scorer was young talent Nwaneri. The poor defense system caused PSV to concede the 3rd goal in the 31st minute, with an easy goal from Merino.

In PSV's poor performance, the home team had to rely on a mistake from Arsenal's Partey to narrow the gap in the 43rd minute, after Noa Lang successfully converted a penalty. But that was all the Dutch team could do in this match.

In the second half, Arsenal continued to dominate the game and their stars scored almost every time they shot. In the 47th and 48th minutes, Odegaard and Trossard scored their names on the scoreboard, completely destroying the fighting spirit of the PSV players.

In the remaining time, Arsenal scored 2 more goals after Odegaard and Calafiori scored to end the match with a devastating 7-1 victory. With this result, coach Arteta's team is considered to have a ticket to the quarter-finals of the Champions League 2024/25. The second leg between the two clubs will take place at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium on March 13.
