The story of twin brothers Nguyen Ngoc Viet and Nguyen Ngoc Nam in Cu Loc village, Minh Duc commune (Tu Ky, Hai Duong) who volunteered to join the army is becoming a source of inspiration for many young people.
Ngoc Viet and Ngoc Nam were born in 2006 in a family with a tradition of patriotism.
Their father, Nguyen Ngoc Anh (born in 1979), also served in the army and always taught his two children about national pride and responsibility for their homeland and country. He taught his children that they should not only live for themselves but also contribute to the community and society.
After graduating from junior high school, Ngoc Viet stayed home to help his mother with the glove manufacturing business; while Ngoc Nam had just graduated from high school.
When they learned about the 2025 military recruitment season, the two brothers discussed and decided to volunteer to join the army.
On the day of the 2025 military service health check at the District Military Command on December 11, both brothers met the health standards for military service.
Ngoc Nam shared that he was very happy to have been selected for military service. They have thought carefully about the duty of young people to the country. It is more meaningful when they can carry out this responsibility together.
"We all believe that the army will help us train our will, discipline and life skills," Ngoc Nam said.
Ngoc Viet and Ngoc Nam's decision did not come as a surprise, but rather made their parents very proud. Their mother, Tran Thi Nga, was moved and hoped that her children would be trained to become more mature and steady in the military environment.
"At first, I was also worried because joining the army is a big turning point for my children. But seeing their determination and excitement, I feel extremely proud," said Ms. Nga.
The twins' volunteering to join the army spread patriotism and civic responsibility in the community.
Many other young people expressed their admiration for Ngoc Viet and Ngoc Nam.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dat, Commander of the Minh Duc Commune Military Command, commented: "Ngoc Viet and Ngoc Nam have proven that youth is the best time to live life to the fullest for ideals."
For Ngoc Viet and Ngoc Nam, the new journey is not only a challenge but also an opportunity to grow. Both aim to complete their assigned tasks excellently and become exemplary soldiers.
