Twin brothers volunteer to join the army

Among the young men who came to the military service screening in Hong Phong commune (Thanh Mien) on the morning of October 31, there were twin brothers Ta Trong Quang and Ta Trong Thang (both born in 2006). The joy was doubled when both brothers were eligible to participate in the district-level health check.

Quang and Thang are currently working at a restaurant in Hanoi with a stable income. When the preliminary medical examination was called, the two brothers proactively went to the commune People's Committee to write a volunteer application and arranged the time to come for the examination according to regulations. In the volunteer application, the two brothers promised to uphold the traditions of their homeland and strive to excellently complete the assigned tasks during their time in the army.

“Since we were young, we have admired and respected our uncles and aunts who were Uncle Ho’s soldiers. Therefore, this year, we are old enough, so we are determined to join the army so that we can also wear military uniforms and serve the Fatherland,” Quang shared.

Tu Ky District Military Command and Tu Ky Town Military Service Council met and encouraged young man Nguyen Tien Dat who volunteered to write an application to join the army.

Although only preparing for the preliminary military service recruitment in 2025, Tu Ky district has 11 young people who are exempted or deferred from volunteering to join the army, including 4 young people studying at universities and colleges.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dac Dung, Deputy Commander of the Tu Ky District Military Command, the locality has mobilized the entire political system, especially local socio-political organizations and unions, to promote propaganda about military recruitment. At the same time, it has proactively organized educational activities, exchanges, visits and gifts for young people joining the army, and promptly commended and rewarded young people who volunteered. Thanks to that, the number of young people volunteering to join the army in the district has increased every year.

“Many bachelors and engineers volunteered to join the army and police. This shows that the sense of responsibility of young people in implementing the Law on Military Service has been raised. Some communes and towns in the district set a target of mobilizing 10-15% of young people to join the army with university or college degrees,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dac Dung.

To encourage and motivate young people to join the army, last October, Cam Giang District Youth Union commended and awarded 118 youth union members who volunteered to join the army in 2025.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Nga, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Provincial Military Command, the increase in the number of young people volunteering to join the army is a positive sign, an example to spread the spirit of volunteering among the youth union members, contributing to the successful completion of military recruitment goals in 2025 with all levels and sectors.

According to the Provincial Military Command, through preliminary statistics, by the end of October 2024, the whole province had nearly 400 young people writing applications to volunteer and join the army, an increase of 40 young people compared to the previous year. Some localities with many young people writing applications to volunteer are Thanh Mien, Cam Giang... Currently, localities in the province are focusing on carrying out the preliminary selection for military service, expected to be completed by November 21.
