In Cairo, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on September 26 warned of the difficult-to-stop risks from Israel's escalating military actions in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, and called for a complete and immediate ceasefire.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry statement also reiterated its warning that Israel’s ongoing actions and behaviour could push the region into confrontation and chaos, exposing the people of the region to “serious and difficult to prevent” risks. According to the statement, Egypt will intensify its efforts to cooperate with regional and international powers to curb the escalation of violence, and expressed its commitment to supporting all initiatives aimed at achieving comprehensive and lasting peace in the region.
The statement also stressed that such stability depends on Israel stopping military actions in the Gaza Strip and complying with relevant United Nations (UN) Security Council resolutions.
According to the United Nations, Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon in recent days have forced 90,000 people to leave their homes in the south of the small Mediterranean country for safer places.
The mass evacuation in Lebanon came as the Israeli military said it carried out new air strikes in Lebanon on September 26, despite a US-led ceasefire call.
