Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee informed that the initial cause of the accident that killed 7 people at the cement factory was due to an electric motor failure of the crusher.
According to document No. 1292 signed by Chief of Office of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee Le Minh Duc, at 1:30 p.m. on April 22, a particularly serious work accident occurred at Yen Bai Cement and Minerals Joint Stock Company (headquartered in Yen Binh town, Yen Binh district).
Specifically, during the periodic maintenance and repair of grinding machine No. 3 of Yen Bai Cement Factory (under Yen Bai Cement and Minerals Joint Stock Company), a work accident occurred.
The accident killed 7 workers; 3 other injured workers are currently being treated at Yen Bai General Hospital, their health has stabilized.
"The initial cause was determined to be an electric motor failure of the crusher, which led to an accident for workers who were directly performing maintenance and repair work," Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee informed.
Immediately after the incident, the Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Bai province, together with the province's functional agencies, directly inspected the scene, held a meeting and directed measures to handle and resolve the accident.
Currently, the authorities of Yen Bai province and Yen Bai Cement and Minerals Joint Stock Company are actively implementing measures to support the families of the unfortunate victims; at the same time, urgently investigating the cause of the incident to strictly handle it according to regulations.
