At around 9am this morning, 20 preschool children from a school in Giang Ma commune, Tam Duong district had to be taken to Lai Chau General Hospital for emergency treatment, suspected of having mistakenly eaten rat poison.
According to a reporter at Lai Chau General Hospital at 11:00 a.m. on November 5, the children were being treated at the Pediatrics Department. Many of the children's relatives were present at the hospital, worried and monitoring the situation.
Standing Deputy Secretary of Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee Vu Manh Ha and leaders of the Department of Health, Department of Education and Training were present at Lai Chau General Hospital to direct the treatment work. Hospital doctors are focusing on treating the children. Blood samples were taken from the children, classified for gastric lavage, X-rays were taken, fluid was sent to the Central Government for testing... Currently, the children's health is basically stable.
The initial preliminary cause is suspected to be that the children mistakenly ate rat poison packaged as candy.
