20,700 people examined and given emergency treatment related to traffic accidents during 6 days of Tet holiday

From the morning of the second day of Tet to the morning of the third day of Tet, medical facilities received nearly 3,700 people coming for examination and emergency treatment for suspected traffic accidents, bringing the total number of examinations during the 6-day Tet holiday to 20,700.

The data is reported by the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment (Ministry of Health) on January 31 (the 3rd day of Tet). The data is compiled and calculated up to 7:00 a.m. every day.

Accordingly, in the past 24 hours (from 7:00 a.m. on the 2nd day of Tet to 7:00 a.m. on the 3rd day of Tet), the total number of visits and emergency treatment for suspected traffic-related accidents was 3,684, of which 1,676 people had to be hospitalized for inpatient treatment or monitoring.

In total, in the 6 days from January 25 to 31, 20,700 people were examined and treated for suspected traffic accidents, more than 8,300 people had to be hospitalized; 2,180 people had to be transferred to another hospital.

Regarding deaths suspected to be caused by traffic accidents, data shows that there were 23 people, of which 10 died before arriving at the medical facility, 4 died at the medical facility and 9 died after being discharged.

In total, in 6 days (from 27th of Tet to morning of 3rd of Tet), the total number of deaths suspected of being caused by traffic accidents was 123 people, of which 59 people died before reaching medical facilities, 26 people died at medical facilities and 38 people were expected to die.

According to the assessment, the total number of examinations and emergency care for suspected traffic accidents in the past 24 hours decreased by 363 people (equivalent to a decrease of 9%). Compared to the same period of 5 days of Tet Giap Thin 2024, this figure decreased by 1,373 people (equivalent to a decrease of 7.2%).

Meanwhile, the total number of people suspected of being hospitalized due to traffic accidents in the past 24 hours increased slightly by 94 people (5.9%), but compared to the same period of the 5 days of the Lunar New Year, this figure still decreased by nearly 900 people (down 11.3%).

Total number of suspected traffic accident deathsIn the past 24 hours (including deaths before arriving at medical facilities, deaths at medical facilities and deaths expected to return home) decreased by 5 people (equivalent to a decrease of 17.9%). Compared to the same period of 5 days of Tet Giap Thin, the total number of deaths decreased by 61 people (38.4%).

The Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management noted that this figure does not include 7 deaths in a 7-seat car that crashed into a ditch in Nam Dinh on the afternoon of the 2nd day of Tet.

At Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, doctors said that the number of emergency cases due to traffic accidents transferred from lower levels or directly received has decreased. Dr. Bui Thanh Phuc, Deputy Head of the Department of Emergency Abdominal Surgery, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital informed that during the shift on the second day of Tet, the number of emergency patients suspected of serious traffic accidents and requiring ventilators decreased compared to the same period of the Giap Thin Tet holiday.

Regarding this incident, the health of the two survivors of the serious accident in Nam Dinh is now stable. Nguyen Ngoc Diep (born in 2013) still needs antibiotic treatment due to water in the lungs. Nguyen Ngoc Quynh (born in 1991) returned to Hanoi last night, January 30.

Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, said that in the past 24 hours, all medical examination and treatment facilities have organized 4 full levels of staff to perform examinations and emergency care for patients.62,520 patientsAs of this morning, there are still nearly 119,000 patients being treated at medical facilities.

During 6 days from January 25 to 31 (from the morning of the 26th of Tet to the morning of the 3rd of Tet), doctors examined and provided emergency care for478,069 patients. The operating rooms of hospitals and medical facilities performed a total of 16,713 surgeries, of which 2,887 were emergency surgeries due to accidents.

On average, more than 2,000 babies are born each day during Tet. In total, during the 6 days of Tet holiday, 14,044 babies were born by cesarean section or midwifery.
