120 doctors registered to work in Hai Duong

On the morning of July 12, at the 23rd Session of the 17th Hai Duong Provincial People's Council, answering the question of delegate Nguyen Thi Huyen (Kinh Mon) about solutions to attract and "retain" human resources in the health sector, comrade Tran Quang Canh, Director of the Department of Health, said that the sector is advising the province on a number of mechanisms and policies.

Director of the Department of Health Tran Quang Canh said that the province is currently short of 388 doctors. In the period 2021 - 2023, 81 doctors at public health facilities have resigned. The reason why the province has not been able to attract and "retain" many health workers, especially doctors, is due to low income, hard work, pressure, poor conditions for studying, improving qualifications and facilities at health facilities.

The Director of the Department of Health said that the sector is implementing a number of solutions to overcome the above problems. That is, proactively attracting, recruiting and assigning units to attend job conferences, working with medical human resource training facilities to invite doctors and medical staff to work in the province. Up to now, attracting doctors to work in the province has shown positive signs when there are 120 doctors registered for recruitment in public health facilities in the province, including 38 doctors at the provincial level and 85 doctors at the district level.

Currently, the Department of Health is coordinating to advise on the development of resolutions, plans, and projects with the goal of overall development of human resources in the health sector to submit to the Provincial People's Council, including the Human Resources Development Project for the period 2025-2030, with a vision to 2050; policies to support training and monthly support for medical staff in villages and residential areas; and a plan to rotate doctors and medical staff between levels in the province.

The Director of the Department of Health also said that since the beginning of the term, Hai Duong province has spent over 2,500 billion VND to invest in facilities and equipment for the provincial health system. By 2025, facilities and equipment will basically meet the medical examination and treatment requirements of all levels, helping doctors to promote their professional capacity and feel secure in their work...

During the questioning and answering session, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Khac Toan requested the health sector to speed up the progress of advising the Provincial People's Committee on specific and practical mechanisms and policies to effectively attract medical human resources to work in the province.

Responding to the question of delegate Truong Thi Thuong Huyen (Binh Giang) about solutions to increase business attraction to invest in the health sector, Director of the Department of Health Tran Quang Canh said that the department has coordinated with the Department of Planning and Investment to advise the Provincial People's Committee to develop and issue a list of investment attraction projects in the province for 2024-2030, including 10 projects in the health sector. In particular, focusing on building high-quality, international-standard private hospitals in some localities in the province.

Currently, some investors have proposed investing in high-quality, international-standard hospital projects in Hai Duong such as the Green International General Hospital project in Lien Hong commune (Hai Duong city) with 300 beds; the General Hospital on Nguyen Luong Bang street (Hai Duong city) with 1,200 beds, the hospital in Cong Hoa ward (Chi Linh city) with 180 beds, etc.

Director of the Department of Health Tran Quang Canh said that the health sector aims to have the ratio of hospital beds in private medical facilities reach 10% of the total number of hospital beds in the province by 2025; and reach 15% of the total number of hospital beds by 2030.
