On the evening of August 14, at the provincial Cultural and Arts Center, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a rehearsal of the Cheo play "Love Story by the River" by Cheo writer - PhD Tran Dinh Ngon, performed by Hai Duong Cheo Theater.

The main content is the love story of Truc and Mai. Because Mai's greedy and cruel father (a rich man) forbade it and wanted to marry his daughter to a rich man of equal social status, their love encountered many obstacles. In the end, overcoming everything, they came together with true love and had a happy ending.

A large audience came to watch the rehearsal.

With elaborate staging, excellent actors and musicians, the play brought the audience emotional moments, especially the details: Truc, because of love, worked day and night to carry dirt to fill the river; Mai, not wanting to be forced by her father to marry someone else, threw herself into the river and committed suicide...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Viet Nga, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Duong province and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented flowers to the performing troupe.

Although it has many folk themes and materials, the Cheo play carries a message full of the breath of the times. Through the details of the fairies deciding to do good deeds such as filling the river, building dams, and creating a wedding path according to the rich man's request to help Truc and Mai come together; when reaching the top of the mountain, seeing the beautiful landscape, they are so busy playing that they forget what they are doing..., the author wants to send the message that people holding positions in today's society sometimes have to forget the small joys, even have to sacrifice their own interests to be able to do good deeds for the community and society. This is also the new feature of the Cheo play.

After the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism gives its opinion, the Cheo play will be performed to serve the people.
