Today the court began working with the victims. Most of the victims requested the Trial Panel (PC) to order the defendants to return the money they had spent on the projects, however, some victims also requested to receive the land.

Buy up to 17 plots of land

According to the announcement of Mr. Tran Minh Chau, the presiding judge of the trial, the working session with the victims was divided by project, from which the projects were divided into groups of 10 - 20 victims.

It is expected that today, December 12, more than 1,400 people identified as victims will be invited to work.

Each person identified as a victim must prepare a contract, project purchase receipt and identification documents for the court to update in the case file.

The court also reminded the victims to calculate the exact amount on the contract, not to say how much because the requested number must be exact.

According to the trial this morning, although the court expected the victims of 8 projects to appear on the first working day, there were many people who were not only victims of the 8 projects this morning but also victims of other projects.

These people were instructed by the chairman to calculate the exact total amount of money for how many contracts were signed, and the total amount of money paid to Alibaba Company. After that, these victims went to work with the secretary department to submit complete documents and papers.

Among the victims who came to court this morning, Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung said she wanted to get back a total of 3.5 billion VND, including principal and interest, for buying Alibaba projects.

Ms. Le Thi Nguyet is the person who bought 17 plots of land in Alibaba's project for a total of more than 5.2 billion VND. According to the presiding judge, Ms. Nguyet previously submitted a petition to the investigation agency for a total of 4.7 billion VND, but Ms. Nguyet said that in addition to the contracts submitted to the investigation agency, she submitted 2 additional contracts. The presiding judge said that in order to complete the dossier, she asked Ms. Nguyet to meet with the secretary to submit additional documents for the court to consider.

Just ask for the land back because Alibaba has the land

While many victims asked to receive their principal and interest back, some victims said that Alibaba had the land and asked to receive the land, not the money.

Specifically, presenting in court, Mr. Phan Thanh Tri requested to receive land, "I also accept agricultural land, I only accept land".

The judge asked how much the total amount of money was spent on the Alibaba project, and the victim initially said it was 178 million. The judge asked how much the total amount was spent, and Mr. Tri said he couldn't remember. The judge said that without accompanying documents, the court could not consider it.

In particular, Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha said that she had invested 4.3 billion VND in Alibaba's projects. Ms. Ha said that Nguyen Thai Luyen did not cheat customers and that Alibaba had real land, so she requested to receive the land.

The judge reminded the victims to only state requests and not opinions on whether the defendant is guilty or not guilty.

Near noon, victims continued to come to provide information and complete procedures to submit documents to the court, including victims working with authorities for the first time.
