Bank employee arrested for fraud and embezzlement of more than 7 billion VND

On the evening of November 30, a Cao Bang Provincial Police officer said that he had issued a decision to prosecute and an arrest warrant for Duong The Trong (born in 1992, in Cao Bang), an employee of Agribank, Ha Quang District Branch, Cao Bang Province, for fraud and property appropriation.

During the initial investigation, the police determined that Trong was assigned to be in charge of the customer's loan file. Trong created false documents in the file such as creating a credit contract that did not match the loan purpose, creating false documents, increasing the loan amount in the file, deceiving customers into signing payment authorizations or cash withdrawal papers...

Then, Trong appropriated the customer's loan money.

In addition, the police also determined that from August 2022 to August 2023, Trong "magically" created 63 loan applications, appropriating more than 7 billion VND from customers.

On the same evening, a representative of Agribank Cao Bang province branch said that through implementing the business process, on September 11, the unit promptly discovered the above incident.

Immediately afterwards, Agribank Cao Bang branch reported to the local authorities, reported and coordinated with the police to investigate and handle the case according to regulations. Up to now, the entire amount of money that Mr. Trong embezzled has been recovered, so there was no damage to the bank's assets and customers, and no impact on the customers' rights.

Agribank Cao Bang province branch has also carried out procedures to terminate the labor contract with Mr. Trong.

The case is being further investigated by Cao Bang Provincial Police for handling according to regulations.
