Disney Film and Entertainment announced that Richard Sherman, the composer of songs for the studio's classic films such as"Mary Poppins"and"The Jungle Book"passed away on May 25 at the age of 95.

Author Sherman and his brother Robert, who died in 2012, worked as staff composers for Disney from 1960 to 1973. During this period, they wrote more than 200 songs for 27 films and more than 20 television productions.
"Chim Chim Cher-ee",a hit from the movie"Mary Poppins"in 1964, which won the brothers an Academy Award for Best Song. Robert Sherman wrote the lyrics while Richard composed the music, following in the footsteps of his father, the famous composer Al Sherman.
The brothers are also responsible for creating hits such as"It's a Small World"and"I Wanna Be Like You"for movie"The Jungle Book"and composed music for non-Disney productions such as"Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"1968
They continued to collaborate with Disney over the years, with Richard Sherman writing new lyrics for the live-action adaptation of "The Jungle Book" in 2016 and composing songs for"Christopher Robin"in 2018.
Disney CEO Bob Iger has expressed his gratitude for the wonderful works that author Richard Sherman left for the world. Actor Tom Hanks once praised Richard Sherman as an endless source of stories and anecdotes.
