VFF wants fans to have the closest access to the matches of the Vietnam team. The notable match between the Vietnam team and the Hong Kong team (China) will take place at Lach Tray Stadium, Hai Phong on June 15. This is a match taking place during the FIFA Days in June and is also the first international match of coach Philippe Troussier at the national team level.
Bringing the friendly matches of the Vietnam national team to the localities is something that fans have long wanted. Fans always want to see the stars compete.
Recently, Hai Phong Club and Hai Phong City have been actively campaigning to bring matches to the locality when Lach Tray Stadium has undergone a comprehensive change in facilities. Meanwhile, the match between the Vietnam team and the Syria team will be held at Thien Truong Stadium, Nam Dinh on June 20.
Syria is currently ranked 90th in the world, 5 places higher than the Vietnamese team on the FIFA rankings. This team also entered the final qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup in Asia and won 6 points. Leading Syria is famous coach Hector Cuper. This 65-year-old strategist has led famous European clubs in the past such as Valencia, Inter Milan, Real Betis or Parma. Recently, he led Egypt, Uzbekistan, Congo before coaching Syria.
Talking about the two upcoming matches, Coach Troussier said: "Everything is just starting now. I have to go through a testing process, getting to know the players. They also need to get used to my philosophy. I create conditions for them. There is no boundary between U23 and the national team in this training session. I have a list of 100 players aiming for the 2026 World Cup. The youngest is 17 years old, the oldest is 28. On that journey, we cannot rely on 10 or 20 players."
