Van Toan: "Hope people support the Vietnam team"

A day before the opening match in Group F of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Asia between the Philippines and Vietnam, striker Nguyen Van Toan shared: “I am lucky to participate in another World Cup qualifier. This is also the first World Cup qualifier that coach Troussier has played alongside the Vietnam national team. So all the players are excited for this match. The players' spirit and confidence are high before this match. We hope that all Vietnamese people will support the team. The team will play their best and achieve the best results.”

The striker continued: “I think playing on artificial turf is not too big of a problem. The team has been familiar with this field condition since they were in Vietnam. The important thing is that the team has the best mental preparation for this match.”

Van Toan concluded: “In any tournament, players will be under pressure. We have experience going through that. The players are ready for the next match. After 8 months of training sessions, the Vietnam team has also had the best preparation to aim for a positive result against the Philippines.”

The match between the Philippines and Vietnam will take place at 6:00 p.m. on November 16.
