The V-League 2023 Organizing Committee has requested the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Disciplinary Board to increase the punishment for a player of the Hanoi Police Club who committed a brutal foul.
The V-League 2023 Organizing Committee sent a report and official dispatch to the VFF Disciplinary Board regarding the case of player Hoang Van Toan committing a brutal foul in the match between Hanoi Police Club and Viettel in round 3. In the match taking place at Hang Day Stadium on the afternoon of February 14, a player of Hanoi Police Club made a tackle and kicked Nguyen Hoang Duc (Viettel) in the leg with the sole of his shoe.
The tournament organizers determined that Hoang Van Toan had committed a violent act with the intention of destroying his opponent. This was a serious foul, and the referee's yellow card in the above situation was not appropriate to the level of the foul. Therefore, the V-League 2023 organizers requested the VFF Disciplinary Committee to take a more severe form of punishment for the player of the Hanoi Police Club.
Hoang Van Toan was proposed to be severely disciplined.
Head of the VFF Disciplinary Board Vu Xuan Thanh confirmed that there will be a form of handling this case. The Disciplinary Board has information and reviewed the match recording and is waiting for a report from VPF and the tournament organizing committee.
"We will receive and work to find a way to handle it," said Mr. Vu Xuan Thanh.
Hoang Van Toan's foul in the match above caused Hoang Duc to be injured and unable to continue playing. This midfielder had to leave the field and when the match ended, he needed his teammates to carry him to the locker room.
Hoang Duc did not suffer any bone damage, only soft tissue damage. The midfielder only needs a few days of rest before returning to training as usual. The severity of Hoang Duc’s injury was less severe than initially predicted by Viettel Club’s coaching staff.
