On June 27, the Russian Pacific Fleet announced that the Varyag missile cruiser - the fleet's command ship - was conducting anti-drones exercises in the Mediterranean.
According to the announcement, within the framework of the exercise, the Varyag conducted exercises in search and rescue missions, repelling a simulated attack by unmanned boats, fighting enemy ships and submarines, and destroying small mobile targets at sea. The crew also practiced practical skills against air attack vehicles with artillery shells fired from the Fort air defense missile system.
During the anti-submarine mission exercise, the crew carried out measures to search for, classify, track and destroy enemy submarines using the RBU-6000 rocket launcher system and torpedoes.
