From July, health insurance will not cover any hospital costs?

. April 13, 2025 17:18

Question: I understand that from July, many new regulations related to health insurance will come into effect. I would like to ask in which cases will patients not be entitled to health insurance benefits from this time?

In addition, compared to current regulations, what are the new points in this policy? I hope to receive specific information so that I can proactively grasp and avoid unfortunate situations when going to see a doctor after July 1.

Pursuant to Article 23 of the Law on Health Insurance 2008 (amended and supplemented in 2014 and 2024), from July 1, 2025, the following cases will not be entitled to health insurance:

1. Expenses in cases where the health insurance coverage of the health insurance participant has been paid by the state budget.

2. Nursing and convalescence at nursing and convalescent facilities.

3. Health check.

4. Pregnancy testing and diagnosis are not for treatment purposes.

5. Use of assisted reproductive techniques, family planning services, abortion, except in cases where pregnancy must be terminated due to pathological causes of the fetus or the mother.

6. Use of cosmetic services.

7. Treatment of strabismus and refractive errors of the eye for people aged 18 and over.

The current regulation is "Treatment of strabismus, myopia and refractive errors of the eye, except in the case of children under 6 years old". Thus, from July 1, 2025, cases of strabismus and refractive eye treatment for people under 18 years old will be covered by health insurance (currently, people from 6 years old to under 18 years old are not entitled to this benefit).

8. Use of medical equipment (current regulations are to use medical supplies) Replacements include artificial legs, artificial arms, artificial eyes, dentures, eyeglasses, hearing aids, mobility aids in medical examination, treatment and rehabilitation.

9. Medical examination, treatment, and rehabilitation in case of disaster.

10. Examination and treatment of drug addiction, alcoholism or other addictive substances.

11. Medical examination, forensic examination, forensic psychiatric examination.

12. Participate in clinical trials and scientific research.
