According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tu Ky district (Hai Duong), this winter-spring crop, the district's organic rice area reached 550 hectares, an increase of 70 hectares compared to the previous crop.
Organic rice is mainly grown in An Thanh and Quang Trung communes. These are areas where earthworms and clams are exploited, so people grow organic rice to protect the environment.
In organic rice areas, farmers mainly plant ST25, J02, glutinous rice and some high-quality rice varieties in the renovated areas in the fields. The entire organic rice area is contracted by individuals and businesses in the fields.
By March 3, people had completed planting about 90% of the organic rice area. Tu Ky district is currently the locality with the largest organic rice area in the province. The district continues to encourage farmers to expand the organic rice production area combined with the exploitation of earthworms and crabs, increasing this area to 700 hectares by 2025.
