China affirms to strengthen solidarity and cooperation with Vietnam

Speaking at a regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on April 11, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said that at the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Liang Qiang, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from April 14-15.

According to Spokesperson Lin Jian, China and Vietnam are two friendly socialist neighbors. Both countries are promoting reform and innovation in accordance with their national conditions. Strengthening solidarity and cooperation is in the common interests of both sides.

At the end of 2023, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping paid a historic visit to Vietnam, opening a new chapter in the community of sharing the future of Vietnam - China.

Over the past time, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping has maintained strategic contact with General Secretary To Lam; ministries, departments, branches and localities of both sides have maintained close exchanges; cooperation in many fields has achieved many positive results, bringing practical benefits to the people of both countries.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said the visit, which takes place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam, is of great significance to the relationship between the two countries.

During the visit, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping will hold talks with General Secretary To Lam, meet with President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

The Chinese side hopes to join Vietnam in considering the visit as an opportunity to consolidate the traditional friendship of “both comrades and brothers” between China and Vietnam; enhance mutual strategic trust, deepen substantive cooperation, and promote the building of a Vietnam-China community of shared future in depth and substance.

Also at the press conference, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lam Kiem said that in addition to Vietnam, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping will also visit two other Southeast Asian countries, Malaysia and Cambodia.

Mr. Lam Kien emphasized that neighboring countries are a priority direction in China's foreign policy. China and Southeast Asia are good neighbors, good friends and good partners.

This visit to Southeast Asia is the first overseas trip of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping this year, which is of great significance in promoting the comprehensive development of relations between China and Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia and China-ASEAN relations, while creating new momentum for the peaceful development of the region and the world.
