Awarding the Ho Chi Minh Medal to the President of the Cuban National Assembly

Within the framework of the official visit to the Republic of Cuba by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, on the morning of April 20 (local time), at the Cuban National Assembly House, Havana, the Vietnamese National Assembly coordinated with relevant Cuban agencies to organize a Medal Awarding Ceremony for leaders of the Cuban National Assembly.

Attending the ceremony were Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue; Party Central Committee member, National Assembly Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong; representatives of National Assembly agencies, leaders of several ministries, branches and localities of Vietnam; and representatives of Cuban National Assembly agencies.

At the ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal, presented a certificate and flowers to Mr. Esteban Lazo Hernández - Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the National Assembly of the People's Power and the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, for his great contributions in consolidating and developing the special friendship between the two Parties, two National Assemblies and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba.

Next, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue conferred the Friendship Medal, presented certificates and flowers to Ana María Mari Machado - Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Vice President of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba; Homero Acosta Álvarez - Secretary General of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba; María Yolanda Ferrer Gómez - Chairwoman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Republic of Cuba, who have made many contributions to the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba.

On behalf of the leaders of the Cuban National Assembly receiving the Medal, National Assembly President Esteban Lazo Hernández expressed his honor and joy at receiving the noble award from the State of Vietnam, and emphasized: “We receive these noble titles in the name of the Cuban people, whom we represent, and with the solidarity with the heroic Vietnamese people - originating from José Martí, to which we pledge.”

National hero José Martí, President Ho Chi Minh, and President Fidel Castro are the people who laid a solid foundation for solidarity between the Vietnamese and Cuban peoples.

National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez expressed his emotion when receiving the Medal bearing the name and image of President Ho Chi Minh.

He affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh had proven that no force could divide a nation with strong will, no matter how great the difficulties and challenges that nation faced.

“We have learned a lot from the wisdom and courage of the Vietnamese people,” he shared.
