Toyota Camry 2024 launched: More flashy, no gasoline engine

Although sedans are no longer the number 1 segment globally as they once were, best-selling sedans like the Toyota Camry are still highly regarded. Therefore, many global fans are still looking forward to the launch of this sedan on November 15.

Considering that the Camry is still Toyota’s best-selling car in many markets, the Japanese brand has a reason not to completely renew the car but only upgrade the existing frame. However, the changes made by the company are still very large and enough to breathe new life into the mid-size sedan.

In terms of design, the 2024 Toyota Camry does not have an SUV-like appearance like the new Crown, but retains the traditional 3-block sedan frame. However, the Crown's influence is still present in the 2024 Toyota Camry design, such as the front-end interface.

The interior of the 2024 Toyota Camry is not taken directly from the Crown but is heavily influenced by the above car line. The overall cockpit is modern, clear and neat with clearly separated surfaces.

Every trim level comes with keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charging pad, and technologies like blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

On the lowest version, the center screen is 8 inches in size, while the digital clock is 7 inches. The higher versions use dual screens of the same size of 12.3 inches.

The second lowest version of the 2024 Toyota Camry called SE uses aluminum pedals, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, black honeycomb grille, body-colored spoiler, rear diffuser, dual exhaust and black Camry badge.

The higher-end XSE/XLE adds 19-inch wheels (18s are standard), heated leather seats, soundproof glass, backlighting, and smart key. Toyota will announce the rest of the detailed equipment in the near future.

The most notable change on the 2024 Toyota Camry comes not from the design but from the powertrain. Specifically, this sedan is now purely a hybrid vehicle. The new hybrid technology has appeared on both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions, instead of being limited to the front-wheel drive before. The high-end V6 engine option and the base non-hybrid version have disappeared.

From the 2024 version, the car's default engine is a 2.5L I-4 supported by two motors for 225 horsepower on the front-wheel drive version and 232 horsepower on the four-wheel drive version. The rear axle is actually driven by a third motor located here that activates when needed.

Toyota has not released full specifications for the 2024 Toyota Camry, but says the hybrid system has been tweaked to reduce noise at low revs.

The 2024 Toyota Camry will officially go on sale in spring 2024 with a detailed price list to be announced at that time. The default use of hybrid technology promises to push the car price up by about 10% compared to the previous Camry and Camry hybrid price list.
