President Donald Trump believes that Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone when he shot and assassinated President John F. Kennedy (JFK).

The Hill (USA) newspaper reported on February 23 that when interviewed by radio host Clay Travis, President Donald Trump received a question related to his decision to release thousands of documents about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas in 1963.

“Do you think Oswald personally killed President John F. Kennedy?” asked host Travis.

“I think so and I always have,” Mr. Trump replied. “Of course, he was helped.”

The US Justice Department has long confirmed that Oswald acted alone in killing President Kennedy. However, conspiracy theories have for decades questioned whether Oswald had accomplices or a backer.

Oswald was charged with assassinating President Kennedy on November 22, 1963, but denied carrying out the shooting. Two days later, Oswald was shot dead during a prison transfer.

President Trump's suggestion that Oswald may have had accomplices has never been confirmed in the records.

President Trump himself said there were no shocking details in the released documents. The US leader added that individuals would be able to draw their own conclusions about the killer.

On March 18, the US government released many documents related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. More than 1,100 documents, totaling 31,000 pages, were posted on the website of the US National Archives.

Previously, the US National Archives released most of the 6 million pages of documents including records, photos, videos, recordings and artifacts related to the assassination of President Kennedy stored here.

To date, federal government agencies have consistently confirmed the assassination was carried out by a single gunman, Lee Harvey Oswald.

In addition, President Trump has also pledged to release documents on the assassinations of civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. and Senator Robert Kennedy, both of whom were assassinated in 1968. President Trump has allowed more time to develop a plan for these releases.
