Chengde Mountain Resort is located in Chengde City, Hebei Province, and is one of the famous tourist destinations in China.

The resort was built around the early 18th century, during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. Initially, only a small-scale manor was built, but over the dynasties, it gradually expanded to its current size.

There are also many notable tourist attractions around the resort, one of which is dubbed "China's most mysterious building." These are two ancient brick towers on top of Songta Mountain, about 10 kilometers from the resort.

The most special feature of this place is the two parallel mountain peaks, the upper part is connected to each other and the lower part has a wide gap. On each mountain peak there is an ancient brick tower, which is also the origin of the name Song Thap mountain.

Shuangta Mountain covers an area of about 3,000 hectares and is the largest natural scenic spot in Chengde City. From a distance, the two peaks look like two large rocks, not very imposing. But when you get closer, the two mountains are towering and vertical, with a height of more than 40 meters and a circumference of 74 meters. The gap between the two rocks is wide enough for a car to pass through.

Experts estimate that the two towers were built during the Liao Dynasty more than 1,000 years ago. The tower on the northern peak is 2 meters high, while the tower on the southern peak is more than 5 meters high, and each tower contains an ancient statue.

Remarkably, the surface around Song Ta Mountain is very smooth, even professional climbers today find it difficult to climb it with their bare hands. In ancient times, when there was no specialized equipment, it is difficult to imagine how people climbed to the top.

Once they reached the top, how did they transport the materials to complete the construction of these two brick towers? These mysteries remain unsolved to this day.
