The account No O No, with more than 600,000 followers on TikTok, was locked for violating public morals and insulting others.
No O No is an account created by Pham Duc Tuan, born in 1996, who often makes videos reviewing restaurants and stores. In recent days, this TikToker has become the main character in the boycott wave of the online community when posting videos with the content "No O No feeds the poor whatever they eat". Although explaining that it is for charitable purposes, this person often uses derogatory and disparaging words.
Many users were outraged and reported the account. Mr. Le Quang Tu Do, Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information - Ministry of Information and Communications, said that on November 27, he had received complaints from people and had worked with TikTok to handle the account. By noon on November 28, TikTok confirmed that it had permanently banned the account No O No. This move may be accompanied by measures to prevent users from creating new accounts on the same device.
Account @tuanbrice, also known as Nơ Ô Nô, was banned on TikTok at noon on November 28.
According to Mr. Do, the content in some videos of the channel has signs of violating public morality and insulting others. The representative of the Department also asked the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City to contact Tuan to work, determine the violation and take further measures, but the owner of this account has currently blocked the communication channels.
According to regulations on administrative sanctions in the fields of post, telecommunications, radio frequencies, information technology and electronic transactions, providing and sharing information that is not in accordance with public morality can be fined from 5 to 10 million VND.
Recently, many people who create content on YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook in Vietnam have been fined for the above behavior. However, Mr. Do said that many people have the mentality that after paying the fine, they can still comfortably continue creating content, leading to repeated violations.
"The Department has worked with social media platforms to handle the issue more thoroughly, including requiring permanent blocking and blocking of advertising revenue sources for violating accounts," said Mr. Do. He also encouraged users to report when encountering violating information on social media, or report it to the Ministry of Information and Communications' Fake News Center, as well as boycott and not spread this content.
"Cybercrime occurs in many places and in many different fields, so we need the support of users to detect and prevent it," said Mr. Do. "In the case of TikToker No O No, feedback from the people, including many influential people, has spoken out, contributing to cleaning up cyberspace."
