The truth about Madam Pang paying hospital bills for Xuan Son

In the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final on January 5, striker Xuan Son was seriously injured and had to go to a hospital in Thailand for first aid before returning to Vietnam for surgery and treatment the following day.

After that, there was information confirming that the President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) Nualphan Lamsam (commonly known as Madam Pang) paid for Xuan Son's hospital fees in Thailand.

After the above information, Madam Pang received many compliments. Many people thought that Mrs. Pang had a noble act when paying for the medical expenses of the Vietnamese players, even though they had just defeated their home team to lift the championship trophy.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phu, General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), affirmed that supporting Xuan Son is Thailand's responsibility as the host country of the second leg of the final match and this has been clearly stipulated by the AFF in the ASEAN Cup regulations. VFF highly appreciates the friendly spirit of Madam Pang as well as the FAT for their support.

The costs of treating Xuan Son's injury when he returns to Vietnam will be paid by VFF and sponsors.

Mr. Phu also said that in the matches in Phu Tho when the Vietnamese team was the host, VFF also coordinated, supported and paid the hospital fees for injuries of some away team players, in accordance with the regulations of the ASEAN Cup Organizing Committee.

Currently, Xuan Son is actively recovering, waiting for the day to return to football. The player born in 1997 is expected to need 6-8 months to return to competition.
