Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just sent a letter of commendation to the cadres, doctors, and medical staff of hospitals and the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center after the successful coordination and organ transplant from a brain-dead donor that saved the lives of 7 people recently.
In a letter sent to the medical staff of Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital, the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center; Vietnam - Germany Friendship Hospital, Hue Central Hospital, and 108 Central Military Hospital, the Prime Minister expressed his joy and pride when learning that recently, nearly 120 doctors, nurses, and technicians from the hospitals, with a spirit of urgency, high concentration, and smooth coordination, promptly retrieved, transported, and successfully transplanted organs for 7 people at Vietnam - Germany Friendship Hospital, 108 Central Military Hospital, and Hue Central Hospital.
"The successful organ transplant clearly demonstrates the remarkable progress in the level, specialized techniques, and rich experience of the Vietnamese medical sector, especially the mastery of organ transplant techniques, and the successful implementation of many multi-organ transplants in recent times. At the same time, it demonstrates the high sense of responsibility, dedication, and devotion to patients of the performing teams who "raced against time", quickly, effectively, and accurately implemented difficult techniques in a short time, bringing success to the organ transplant, lighting up the hope of revival for the patients," the Prime Minister emphasized.
On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the efforts, attempts and important professional progress of the medical staff in general, and of doctors, medical staff and employees in the field of organ transplantation in particular, especially at the Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital, the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, Hue Central Hospital and 108 Central Military Hospital.
Through these successes, the Prime Minister hopes and believes that the Ministry of Health and general and specialized hospitals across the country will continue to develop technical expertise, gain more valuable experience in organ retrieval and transplantation, and effectively manage and promptly deploy this important field.
The Prime Minister also hopes that in the coming time, the Ministry of Health will promote the development of a nationwide network of organ and tissue donation; strongly and widely launch a movement to register for organ and tissue donation, bringing life to patients who are waiting day and night.
* Previously, on the night of April 1 to the morning of April 2, about 120 doctors and nurses from many medical facilities worked through the night to perform surgery to remove multiple organs from a donor at the Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital.
The surgery to remove multiple organs from a Quang Ninh citizen who was brain dead due to a traffic accident. This is the first time the organ removal has been performed at a provincial hospital in the North, from there it was transferred to many organ transplant centers across the country, the furthest being to Hue Central Hospital.
The donated organs included: heart, liver, in which the liver was divided into right and left liver, 2 kidneys, 2 corneas. The organ harvesting surgery was carried out that night with the participation of leading organ transplant centers in Vietnam such as: 108 Military Central Hospital, Viet Duc Hospital, Hue Central Hospital.
