How to text to look up domain names on 156 and website

The common feature of the violation is that it often uses international domain names registered abroad, concealing the subject's information. In order to contribute to preventing and stopping fraudulent activities and violations of the law, the Ministry of Information and Communications (Vietnam Internet Center - VNNIC) has built and deployed the Domain Name Information Lookup Portal to support people, organizations and businesses in identifying and authenticating official information sources on the network environment.

Before using services or transacting on the Internet, people, organizations and businesses can look up website and domain name information by sending a free text message to hotline 156 or looking it up directly at the website https://tracuutenmien.gov.vn.

In 2021 and 2022, the Vietnam Internet Center (Ministry of Information and Communications) coordinated to provide information on more than 1,819 domain names (including 1,683 international domain names registered abroad using the service of hiding subject information) to competent authorities for handling violations; received and processed the temporary suspension of operations and revoked 498 domain names related to violations of counterfeiting major brands, press agencies, general electronic information sites, online gambling, banking and financial fraud, illegal trading of medical products and functional foods, etc. Fraudulent acts and violations of the law in cyberspace are increasingly sophisticated and difficult to identify, partly due to the inability to verify the website owner and domain name.

Through searching on the domain name information lookup system, Internet service users can identify and authenticate official information sources, thereby considering and reviewing the information sources they are accessing on the network environment.

Currently, the Vietnam Internet Center is managing the database of Vietnam national domain names “.vn” and data on registration of international domain names of Vietnamese organizations and individuals reported by international domain name registrars in Vietnam. The domain name information lookup system will help users determine the following information: Domain name type (Vietnam national domain name “.vn” or international domain name); Name of the registered user; Domain name management registrar.

With official information and data sources from the domain name management database of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Domain Name Lookup Portal is an effective support tool for users in identifying official information sources on the network environment, contributing to preventing and stopping fraudulent acts and violations of the law related to the use of domain names on the network environment.

Before using services or making transactions on the Internet, people can look up domain name information in two ways as follows:
Method 1: Send a message (free) with the syntax: TCTM [Domain name or website link] send to 156
Method 2: Look up directly on the lookup portal at https://tracuutenmien.gov.vn
