Da Nang City Police have worked with a woman who posted false information on social media about being 'drugged' on Vo Van Kiet Street, causing public confusion.
Specifically, in the early morning of February 17, an account named “Kieu Linh” recounted that when she was returning from work at night, at an intersection near the Dragon Bridge, a small young man waved for a ride. After stopping to talk to the young man for a while, Kieu Linh felt “gradually paralyzed” so she sped away.
At that time, two young men on a white Airblade were chasing Kieu Linh, so she ran into a roadside pub to call for help and called her relatives. She then fell and “was paralyzed and unconscious, when she woke up she was in the hospital”. The article was accompanied by pictures of a woman being treated at the hospital.
Because the article was titled “Warning Corner”, with shocking and dangerous details, it received thousands of interactions, comments and shares. In just one morning, the article was shared by hundreds of people and groups, causing public confusion, creating fear and anxiety for many women, especially those who often have to travel at night.
After the article was published, the Da Nang City Police Department investigated. The authorities worked with the Facebook account owner, Huynh Kieu Linh (21 years old, residing in Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province), and determined that the incident was not as posted, and that this person was not drugged in the middle of the road.
After working with the police, the owner of the Facebook account "Kieu Linh" deleted the post and posted a correction.
Currently, the authorities continue to investigate and clarify the case for handling according to regulations.
