More than 60 dogs from Vietnam, China, Thailand and Malaysia participated in the hair trimming competition at the pet festival.
The pet hair styling contest is one of the activities within the Vietnam International Pet Festival InterPetFest 2025, held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (District 7) from February 20 to 22.
The two-hour competition was divided into two categories: real dog and fake dog. The jury consisted of three experts from Korea, China and Singapore.
Before the competition, contestants must take actual photos of their pets and send them to the organizers. Most dogs participating in the competition will have fur that has been "grown" for about 2-3 months.
"A dog that qualifies for the competition must have a coat that is at least as long as a comb's teeth and must be clean," said Singaporean judge Kingsly Tan, while using a comb to evaluate the dog before the competition began.
A dog cut in the Continental Clip style - a complex, highly technical style. The coat is shaved short on the hindquarters and sides, leaving only the long hair on the head, neck, and tail. The remaining hair is styled in a rounded style, giving it a luxurious and noble look.
The Pomeranian dog was styled by Ms. Kim Ngan (32 years old) with a swirl on its body. "I came up with this style myself, not following any style, as long as I find it beautiful and unique, that's fine," Ms. Ngan said.

Fay (10 years old) from Thailand is the youngest contestant in the contest. She participated in creating pet models to gain more experience before applying it to real dogs.
Some dogs were given a break and a drink of water to regain their strength after standing on the table for two hours.
After the competition time is up, the judges will come to each dog to evaluate the overall shape, aesthetics and professional techniques of the groomer to score.
The winners of the puppy modeling contest were awarded trophies for each category.
The event takes place over 3 days, with more than 10,000 visitors and 3,000 pet business people expected to participate. Throughout the event, there will be many activities such as dog racing, pet fashion, fast food for dogs and cats, specialized seminars...
