Sharing in a large group, a series of photos of a young man from Ninh Binh celebrating Tet with his grandmother in a nearly 100-year-old house attracted thousands of "likes" and hundreds of interested comments.

The image of a moss-tiled house filled with Tet colors when decorated with parallel sentences, bamboo poles, peach branches and other small accessories makes viewers feel peaceful and warm.

Along with that, the moment the young man and his grandmother wrapped Chung cakes on a bamboo bed also evokes the image of the old Tet. The traditional beauty is even more prominent when placed in the peaceful setting of the countryside.

Netizens left many interesting comments about this series of photos: "So peaceful and beautiful", "The whole sky of childhood comes flooding back when looking at this series of photos of this guy", "Feeling as familiar as reliving childhood"...

According to research, the owner of the photo series is Bui Van Son (born in 1998, from Nho Quan district, Ninh Binh province). The series of photos were taken by Son during the days of preparing to welcome the Lunar New Year 2025.

The old house in the photo belongs to Son’s grandmother – Mrs. Bui Thi Su (83 years old). She has 6 children (5 girls, 1 boy), Son’s father is the 4th child. Currently, Son is living with his grandmother in the nearly 100-year-old house.

Son currently lives with his grandmother in a house that is nearly a hundred years old.

Tet 2025 is a more special Tet for Son because after many years of wandering around the city, he finally gets to celebrate a full Tet with his grandmother in a familiar house.

“Before, I worked as a sales person in Hanoi. Every year, I could only return to my hometown just before Tet, then stay at home with my grandmother and parents for a few days before rushing back to the city to work. Tet was always a rush and full of worries for me,” Son said.

In early 2024, Son decided to "leave the city and return to the countryside" to help his parents raise livestock, cook for his grandmother, and do some personal work. And Tet 2025 was the first Tet Son had the freedom to do what he wanted.

Son shared that he was born and raised in Muong village, a place with strong culture and nature of the mountain people. This Tet, he wanted to recreate the old Tet atmosphere so he went shopping with his grandmother very early.

“From December 25 to 26, I took my grandmother to the market, bought parallel sentences, a pole, peach blossoms and some accessories to decorate the small house for Tet. I also bought her a new dress to wear when she welcomed her children and grandchildren to wish her a happy New Year. My grandmother was very happy,” Son shared.

The house was meticulously decorated by Son and his grandmother.

On December 28, Son, his mother, younger brother and grandmother wrapped Chung cakes in front of the house. That night, the whole family gathered around the fire, watching the pot of hot Chung cakes.

“Every year, my grandmother and mother wrap the cakes together, and the whole family watches over and scoops them out together, but I am always absent from this peaceful moment because I am busy making a living in the city. This year, I was able to enjoy everything to the fullest,” Son confided.

On the first day of Tet, Son and his grandmother welcomed guests to their old house. The joyful atmosphere and laughter made him cherish the moment he was with his grandmother and his family.

“This Tet, I see my grandmother is much more excited, and I myself feel everything is lighter and more complete. Sometimes, slowing down a bit to enjoy precious moments of family reunion is also worth the trade-off,” Son said.
