A young man decided to use his Thong Nhat motorbike to cycle from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City to watch the parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South.
In recent days, social networks have shared the story of a young man cycling across Vietnam from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, attracting the attention of many people.
That young man is Dao Quang Ha (24 years old, from Thai Binh). His goal is to witness the sacred moment of the nation - the parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.
His journey began on April 5. From Hanoi, he set off on an old Thong Nhat bicycle, carrying a few essential personal items, a bright red national flag, and the spirit of youth.
The young man from Thai Binh cycled through the provinces of Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and Quang Binh. Quang Ha is currently in Quang Tri. If everything goes smoothly, he will arrive in Ho Chi Minh City on April 21-22.
The idea of cycling to Ho Chi Minh City came to Quang Ha quite unexpectedly, only about half a month before the departure date. While following the news about the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South, the thought suddenly flashed through his mind: "Why not go there yourself, with your own youth?"
For Quang Ha, it was not just a trip, but also a journey to challenge himself, to feel more clearly the flow of history through each wheel rolling on the S-shaped strip of land.
Ha revealed that the bike used for the trip was an old bike left by his grandfather, whom he missed very much. "When riding my grandfather's bike, I felt like he was by my side. Even more special, it was a Thong Nhat bike, the name made my trip more meaningful, as the destination was Ho Chi Minh City - where the celebration of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day on April 30th will take place," Quang Ha said.
During the first three days of the journey, because his body had not yet adapted to the intensity of continuous movement, Quang Ha suffered from knee pain, making it difficult to move. However, after seeing a doctor and taking medicine, the pain gradually subsided, and he was able to continue on his journey.
During the long journey, Quang Ha encountered many problems: sometimes the bike pedal broke, sometimes the brakes lost power in the middle of the road, not to mention the weather factors. Each time, he had to stop and take the bike to the nearest shop to get it repaired. Despite many challenges, Quang Ha never thought of giving up. He always told himself that he had to reach the destination, not stop halfway.
Quang Ha's cycling journey to Ho Chi Minh City was supported by his relatives and friends, because this was not the first time he had made a long trip alone. Since high school, he had a passion for exploring, loved traveling and was always looking for trips.
Previously, at the end of 2022, Quang Ha had made a 1-month cross-Vietnam motorbike trip. However, he still felt unsatisfied and decided to take a new, more challenging journey on foot.
The trip from Ha Giang to Ca Mau lasted about 8 months, allowing the young man to leisurely feel and learn about the beauty of nature, culture and people in each region. At that time, Quang Ha stopped in Dien Bien province on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory.
"Many people think that trips are quite meaningless and a waste of time, but I don't care too much. I always believe that the road ahead will have many interesting and new things," the 10X expressed.
As a student majoring in culture and tourism, the young man from Thai Binh expressed his dream of opening his own travel company and designing many attractive tours for tourists. That is why his journey to explore Vietnam has never been meaningless.
"Each trip, each destination is an opportunity for me to experience life, explore the unique cultures of each region and understand more about the diversity of my country. In particular, through each journey, the solidarity and spirit of helping people from the North to the South is always something that I remember," Quang Ha said.
