Hai Duong has been promoting the recognition of tourist areas and spots to promote tourism development.
The An Phu-Kinh Chu-Nham Duong (Kinh Mon) historical relic and special national scenic spot was recognized as a provincial-level tourist area in 2021.
Recognition of tourist areas and destinations aims to create a legal corridor to protect tourism resources, promote values, create conditions to attract investment, promote tourism...
Hai Duong has rich and diverse tourism resources and plays an important role in tourism development in the Red River Delta and the Northeastern coastal region. However, our province is still considered a transit point for tourists on the Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh tourist route.
In order to create a breakthrough and gradually turn tourism into a truly important economic sector, Program No. 22-Ctr/TU dated August 19, 2021 of the Provincial Party Executive Committee on promoting the cultural values of the Eastern region and building Hai Duong people to meet development requirements for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030, was issued.
In September 2021, the Provincial People's Committee concretized the above program with the Project "Developing high-quality tourism in Hai Duong province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050". In December 2021, the Provincial People's Committee issued the Plan to implement Program No. 22-Ctr/TU, emphasizing the concentration of resources for tourism development. The effective step-by-step implementation of the above project with a focus on developing unique tourism products, ensuring the quality of tourism services and the tourism environment will be a boost to create a breakthrough in tourism development, contributing to enhancing the position, image and competitiveness of the province.
Accordingly, the District People's Committee must preside over and direct the Department of Culture and Information and the Commune People's Committee, agencies and organizations in the area to prepare dossiers for recognition of provincial-level tourist areas and spots to improve the quality of tourist areas and spots. This is one of the key tasks in implementing the Project "Developing high-quality tourism in Hai Duong province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050".
Mr. Vu Dinh Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the dossier for recognition of provincial-level tourist areas and spots has been carried out since 2019. Most recently, in January 2022, the Provincial People's Committee continued to recognize 3 provincial-level tourist spots: the Provincial Museum, Suot communal house - temple relic, Dong Ngo pagoda relic and Cap Nhat communal house - temple (Hai Duong city), bringing the total to 13 provincial-level tourist areas and spots.
Recognition of provincial-level tourist attractions will create a foundation for the Provincial Museum to promote resource values, enhance promotion and advertising to develop tourism.
The recognition of tourist areas and destinations aims to create an important legal corridor to protect tourism resources. From there, the value of resources is determined, contributing to raising the sense of responsibility of local authorities, businesses and people in tourism development; orienting investment, attracting investment, building products, visitors, tourism services... to exploit and effectively promote the value of relics and scenic spots to serve local tourism development.
For example, the Provincial Museum is an important destination of Hai Duong City. In recent years, the Provincial Museum has made many innovations to attract tourists. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue, Director of the Provincial Museum, said that the Provincial Museum is preserving over 50,000 documents and artifacts. This is a "red address" to preserve valuable documents, serving propaganda and introducing the land and people of Hai Duong in the process of national history.
According to Ms. Hue, like other recognized tourist areas and destinations, the recognition of the Provincial Museum as a provincial-level tourist destination not only helps affirm the position and value of the destination but also creates conditions for each destination to gradually professionalize the work of promotion, advertising, and brand building; connecting destinations on a digital tourism platform. Thereby creating conditions to attract travel businesses to build and connect tours and routes to bring tourists to Hai Duong. "In the coming time, Hai Duong Museum will continue to promote specialized and mobile exhibition activities. Maintain well the activities of experiencing typical traditional craft villages and folk games. Strengthen propaganda and promotion on the digital tourism platform; research and create leaflets and tourist souvenirs...", Ms. Hue said.
The recognition of tourist areas and destinations has confirmed that these places meet the conditions prescribed by the Law on Tourism, helping the protection, management and exploitation of tourism resources become more strict and in compliance with the provisions of the law.
In 2022, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will continue to review and advise the province to recognize 1-2 more provincial-level tourist destinations. It is expected to focus on destinations in Ninh Giang and Cam Giang districts. In the 2021-2025 period, strive to recognize 1 national-level historical tourist area. In the 2026-2030 period, strive to recognize 2 national-level tourist areas and 5-7 provincial-level tourist destinations.
