Spend maximum time studying

Like many other secondary schools in Hai Duong, the learning and review atmosphere at Thanh Ha town secondary school is quite lively. Nguyen Ngoc Anh, class 9A, Thanh Ha town secondary school, and some friends are taking advantage of recess to ask the teacher about the knowledge they do not understand.

“My goal is to enter Thanh Ha High School, but after the survey, my scores in Math, Literature and English were not achieved, so I have to try much harder. I spend as much time at home as possible completing the homework assigned by my teachers, researching and expanding my knowledge. I think increasing self-study during this time is the optimal solution,” Ngoc Anh said.

Nguyen Ngoc Huong Giang, class 9B, Nam Sach town secondary school is also focusing on maximizing her time in class and at home to review. In the afternoons when she doesn't have extra classes at school, she focuses on self-studying at home.

“After the quality survey, I got about 21 points for 3 subjects. But with the goal of entering Nam Sach High School, I have to try to improve my score even more. I have no intention of taking extra classes at the center because I think that just having a solid grasp of the textbook knowledge, completing the exercises assigned by the teachers, and actively studying at home is enough. Before, I used to study until 9-10 pm, but now I have to study until 11-12 pm,” Huong Giang said.

In Hai Duong city, the review atmosphere at tutoring centers is more exciting than in the district because there are more tutoring centers.

NVT, a 9th grade student at Tan Binh Secondary School who studies at a tutoring facility in Quang Trung Ward, said he has been taking a review class there for nearly a month. This class has many students from 9th grade at many different secondary schools.

“The students who come here all want to accumulate and improve their knowledge. Many others study English and literature. Some study two shifts at the same time, finishing at one center and then going to another. My weakest subject is math, so I only study 2 evenings a week for this subject, the rest of the time I focus on self-studying at home,” T. said.

Many students and parents are worried because the extra study time at school is reduced compared to before and this year, for the first time, students will take the exam according to the new general education program 2018, the exam structure has many innovations and is more difficult than before. However, schools and teachers have solutions to support and accompany students.

After Circular 29 took effect, all secondary schools adjusted their review plans according to regulations. Regularly surveying the quality to classify, divide classes, and divide students into groups to assign teachers to review, consolidate knowledge, and support each student. Teachers provide extra lessons to students in the school completely free of charge.

Thanh Ha Town Secondary School has also divided 9th grade classes into 2 different groups of students. The school has assigned experienced teachers to review. The review content has been systematized to closely follow the structure of the reference exam. Teachers have increased homework assignments and corrected students' questions in many different ways.

Ms. Pham Thi Hanh, Acting Principal of Thanh Ha Town Secondary School, said that the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Ha District has also organized seminars and workshops on reviewing the three subjects of Math, Literature and English for all teachers directly reviewing grade 9 students. Through this, teachers can exchange and learn professional expertise, improve the quality of review in particular and the 2018 general education program in general.
